Famille Moussé Eugène Rosé

L’Eugène Rosé by Famille Moussé is not a simple blended rosé, but a true masterpiece of winemaking craftsmanship that combines history and audacity. This cuvée distinguishes itself by the use of two “perpetual reserves” started in 2003 (a method that ages together the wines of every vintage): one of white wines and the other of red wines. The latter, coming from a single parcel of Meunier, is aged in oak barrels of over 8 years. This choice favors a deep maturation that gives the wine a complexity and an aromatic singularity difficult to match.

In the glass, it presents itself with a brilliant and lively rosy robe, animated by a very fine perlage. On the nose, the impact is pulpy and refined: the predominance of Meunier (82%), supported by Pinot Noir (18%), releases notes of small red wild berries, spicy nuances, and a light mineral recall. The great aromatic purity is guaranteed by a production choice of excellence: the use of mined sulfur produced directly at the estate, which allows sulfites to be kept at very low levels.

In the mouth, L’Eugène Rosé surprises with its balance between structure and drinkability. The very low dosage (Extra Brut, 2.5 g/L) lets the typical freshness of the green clays of the Vallée de la Marne terroir emerge. The sip is round, enveloping, and vibrant, with a savory finish that continuously invites you to drink.

Far from classic dessert rosés, this Champagne has a deeply gastronomic soul. It is the perfect companion for signature cured meats and convivial yet refined dishes: it excels with a meat pie in a crust (pasticcio di carne in crosta), a flavorful local salami, an aged coppa, or an artisanal cooked ham. For a modern and audacious pairing, try it with a croque-monsieur prepared with Japanese Shokupan bread.

An identity-driven rosé of great precision, capable of ennobling the tradition of its land through a contemporary technical vision that is respectful of nature.
