This Extra Brut, a wise blend of 70% Pinot Meunier and 30% Pinot Noir, represents the most dynamic and immediate face of the maison. Dosed at 2 g/L and aged for about 18 months on the lees, L’Esquisse (the sketch) is born from the youngest parcels of the estate located between Cuisles, Jonquery, and Châtillon-sur-Marne, where green clays on calcareous marls sign a unique mineral profile.
In the glass, it presents itself with a luminous and lively robe, which anticipates its expressive nature. On the nose, it reveals a young and fragrant profile, where the generosity of Meunier is the protagonist: crunchy hints of small red fruits, citrus notes, and a distinct floral component emerge. The wise use of malolactic fermentation gives roundness, while maintaining a great aromatic cleanliness.
In the mouth, it confirms itself as an extremely drinkable and vibrant Champagne. The distinctive character of this sip derives from the use of “tailles” (the second pressings): this fraction of must, richer in primary aromas and endowed with a softer acidity, confers to the wine an immediate roundness and a distinct fruity note. The result is a juicy and “easy” sip, which while maintaining precision and momentum, renounces the typical austerity of long agings in favor of an instant pleasantness.
Perfect for celebrating moments of conviviality, this Extra Brut is the ideal companion for informal and refined aperitifs. It finds its natural pairing with toasted almonds, dried fruit, delicate canapés, or summer snacks based on watermelon and fresh cheeses, thanks to its extraordinary capacity to unite simplicity, character, and freshness.
An authentic and sunny Champagne, which interprets the concept of a “sketch” as a celebration of the youth of the vineyard and of the noble immediacy of the Vallée de la Marne terroir.
